Amaury Castanho

Amaury Castanho (born September 19, 1927 in Sousas , Brazil , † May 31, 2006 ) was a Brazilian clergyman and Catholic bishop of Jundiaí .

Life

Castanho received on 7 October 1951, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On July 19, 1976, Pope Paul VI appointed him . as titular bishop of Balecium and auxiliary bishop in Sorocaba . The Archbishop of Campinas , Antônio Maria Alves de Siqueira , donated him episcopal ordination on October 7th of the same year . Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Coadjutor of Campinas, Gilberto Pereira Lopes , and the Bishop of Sorocaba, José Melhado Campos .

On November 30, 1979, John Paul II called him Bishop of Valenca and on May 3, 1989, Coadjutor Bishop of Jundiaí. With the resignation of Roberto Pinarello de Almeida on October 2, 1996, he succeeded him as Bishop of Jundiaí. On January 7, 2004, Pope John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation.
