Getúlio Teixeira Guimarães

Getúlio Teixeira Guimarães SVD (born October 17, 1937 in Cipotânea ; † August 1, 2020 in Cornélio Procópio ) was a Brazilian religious and Roman Catholic bishop of Cornélio Procópio .

Life

Getúlio Teixeira Guimarães joined the religious order of the Steyler Missionaries and was ordained a priest on August 4, 1966 after his theological training .

Pope John Paul II appointed him auxiliary bishop in Ponta Grossa and titular bishop of Tabbora on December 20, 1980 . The Apostolic Nuncio in Brazil , Carmine Rocco , donated him episcopal ordination on March 22nd of the next year ; Co- consecrators were Geraldo Claudio Luiz Micheletto Pellanda CP , Bishop of Ponta Grossa, and Joel Ivo Catapan SVD, Auxiliary Bishop in São Paulo . As a motto he chose QUI PERTRANSIIT BENEFACIENDO .

On March 26, 1984 he was appointed Bishop of Cornélio Procópio by Pope John Paul II . Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation on March 26, 2014.
