Manoel João Francisco

Manoel João Francisco (born September 5, 1946 in Navegantes , Santa Catarina , Brazil ) is a Brazilian clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Cornélio Procópio .

Life

After attending the boys' seminar in Brusque , Manoel João Francisco first studied philosophy at the Universidade Federal do Paraná in Curitiba . He completed his theological studies in Curitiba and at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome, where he obtained a licentiate in liturgical science. After further studies he received his doctorate theologiae in liturgy at the Pontifical Athenaeum Sant'Anselmo . On December 8, 1973, he received the sacrament of ordination for his home diocese of Florianópolis .

After various tasks in pastoral care, he became professor in Florianópolis and director of the Instituto Teológico de Santa Catarina .

On October 28, 1998, Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Chapecó . The Archbishop of Florianópolis, Eusébio Scheid SCJ , donated him episcopal ordination on February 21, 1999 ; Co- consecrators were the auxiliary bishop in Florianópolis, Vito Schlickmann , and the emeritus bishop of Chapecó, José Gomes .

Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Cornélio Procópio on March 26, 2014 .
