Domingos Gabriel Wisniewski CM (born March 2, 1928 in Guarani das Missões , Rio Grande do Sul , Brazil ; † July 21, 2010 in Londrina , Paraná , Brazil) was a Roman Catholic theologian and bishop of Apucarana .

Life

Domingos Gabriel Wisniewski, a son of Lublin immigrated in the 19th century Polish family, joined the Congregation of the Vincentians at and studied philosophy and theology at the Seminary in Curitiba and in Paris . There he was ordained a priest on June 29, 1955 . He then studied at the Catholic University in Curitiba , where he was professor and rector of the seminary in Curitiba as well as provincial superior .

On June 27, 1975, Pope Paul VI appointed him . as titular bishop of Tela and auxiliary bishop in the Archdiocese of Curitiba . The episcopal ordination received his Archbishop Carmine Rocco , Apostolic Nuncio in Brazil, on 28 August 1975; Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Curitiba, Pedro Antônio Marchetti Fedalto , and the Archbishop of Porto Alegre , Cardinal Alfredo Vicente Scherer .

On April 19, 1979, the appointment as Bishop of Cornélio Procópio and on May 17, 1983, the appointment as Bishop of Apucarana by Pope John Paul II. On February 2, 2005, his age-related resignation was granted.

Domingos Gabriel Wisniewski died in the Antônio Prudente Hospital in Londrina of complications from diverticulitis . He was buried in the Cathedral of Our Lady of Lourdes (Catedral Nossa Senhora de Lourdes) in Apucarana.
