José Joaquim Gonçalves

José Joaquim Gonçalves (born October 21, 1917 in Jaboticabal , State of São Paulo , Brazil , † June 23, 1988 in São José do Rio Preto ) was a Brazilian clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Cornélio Procópio .

Life

José Joaquim Gonçalves received on 8 December 1941, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On August 22, 1951, Pope Pius XII appointed him . to titular bishop of Helos and auxiliary bishop in Espírito Santo . The Bishop of Rio Preto , Lafayette Libânio , ordained him episcopal on December 8th of the same year ; Co-consecrators were the coadjutor bishop of Jaboticabal , José Varani , and the auxiliary bishop of Jaboticabal, Gabriel Paulino Bueno Couto OCarm .

Pius XII. appointed him on December 15, 1951 Bishop of Espírito Santo. On March 14, 1957 Pius XII appointed him. Titular Bishop of Tanis and Auxiliary Bishop in Rio Preto. Pope Paul VI appointed him on June 14, 1973 as the first bishop of Cornélio Procópio.

On March 28, 1979 Paul VI. the resignation put forward by José Joaquim Gonçalves.
