José Varani

José Varani (born October 14, 1915 in Jaboticabal , São Paulo , † June 24, 1990 ) was a Brazilian clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Jaboticabal .

Life

José Varani was ordained a priest for the diocese of Jaboticabal on December 23, 1939 .

Pope Pius XII appointed him on August 27, 1950 titular bishop of Altava and coadjutor bishop of Jaboticabal. The Archbishop of São Salvador da Bahia , Augusto Álvaro da Silva , donated him episcopal ordination on November 1st of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Curitiba , Manuel da Silveira d'Elboux , and Gabriel Paulino Bueno Couto OCarm , Auxiliary Bishop in Jaboticabal.

With the death of Archbishop Antônio Augusto de Assis on February 7, 1961, he succeeded him as Bishop of Jaboticabal.

He participated in all four sessions of the Second Vatican Council as a council father.

On June 7, 1981, Pope John Paul II accepted his early resignation.
