Luíz Eugênio Pérez

Luíz Eugênio Pérez (born May 5, 1928 in Orlândia , São Paulo , † November 14, 2012 in Ribeirão Preto ) was a Brazilian clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Jaboticabal .

Life

Luíz Eugênio Pérez entered the Minor Seminary in Campinas at the age of 12 and the Central Seminary of São Paulo in Ipiranga in 1948 . After studying philosophy and theology, he was ordained a priest on December 8, 1954 by Luis do Amaral Mousinho , Archbishop of Ribeirão Preto . He was initially co-vicar at the cathedral of Ribeirão Preto and in 1957 took over the parish in Cravinhos .

Pope Paul VI appointed him Bishop of Jales on March 9, 1970 . The Apostolic Nuncio in Brazil , Archbishop Umberto Mozzoni , donated him episcopal ordination on June 11, 1970 ; Co- consecrators were Bernardo José Bueno Miele , Coadjutor Archbishop of Ribeirão Preto, and Jaime Luiz Coelho , Bishop of Maringá . His episcopal motto was "You are all brothers".

On June 7, 1981, he was appointed Bishop of Jaboticabal by Pope John Paul II . On June 25, 2003, Pope John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation.
