Luis do Amaral Mousinho

Luis do Amaral Mousinho (born November 18, 1912 in Timbaúba , Pernambuco , Brazil , † April 24, 1962 ) was a Brazilian clergyman and Roman Catholic Archbishop of Ribeirão Preto .

Life

Luis do Amaral Mousinho received on 27 March 1937, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On August 30, 1948, Pope Pius XII appointed him . to the bishop of Cajazeiras . The Archbishop of São Sebastião do Rio de Janeiro , Cardinal Jaime de Barros Câmara , donated him episcopal ordination on November 28 of the same year . Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Penedo , Fernando Gomes dos Santos , and the Bishop of Pesqueira , Adelmo Cavalcante Machado .

Pius XII. appointed him on March 18, 1952 Bishop of Ribeirão Preto. The inauguration took place on June 10 of the same year. With the elevation of the diocese to the Archdiocese of Ribeirão Preto on April 19, 1958, Pope Pius XII appointed him. to its first archbishop.

During his tenure he promoted the Catholic Action and the establishment of the new diocesan seminary Maria Imaculada in Brodowski , which he inaugurated in 1961. He died the following year at the age of only 49.
