Circles is a progressive metal band from Melbourne , Australia .

history

Origin (2009)

The formation of the band can be traced back to Ted Furuhashi, who began to write his own songs at the age of twelve and record them with a cassette recorder . After playing in several bands, he sat down with his friend Dave Hunter, whom he had known from early childhood and with whom he had played in other bands before, to form his own band, which would correspond to his musical ideas should. Together they composed almost a dozen songs, after which they decided to make a real band out of their project. In Drew Patton, whom they already knew from another band, the band found a suitable bass player. After they had searched in vain for a second guitarist and had several auditions , the guitarist Matty Clarke became aware of the band via the social network Myspace and shortly afterwards joined the band. Via Clarke they got to the singer Perry Kakridas, who joined the band in summer 2009. A week later the band had their first gig.

First publications (2010-2011)

At the beginning of March 2010, the band released their first EP called Prelude , which the band distributed digitally via the online platform bandcamp . The band then began recording their second EP, which was initially planned to be released in summer 2010. In December 2010, the band released their first EP Prelude for free download. In February 2011 the band announced that they had signed a record deal with the London-based Basick Records label . In May 2011, The Compass, the band's second EP, was released, on which in addition to the song The Frontline , which was already on the first EP, there were other songs, some of which were composed seven years ago at that time. At the beginning of November 2011, the band's first music video for the song Eye Embedded was presented via the British edition of Metal Hammer , which was followed a week later by the release of the digital single of the same name , on which, in addition to the song itself, a remix , an instrumental Version and two other songs from the first EP were located.

Present (since 2012)

At the beginning of 2012 the band played a tour with different local bands of the genre from the respective area, which led along the east coast of Australia. In December 2012, the band released the single Another Me , which was released for free download from Basick Records' bandcamp site. The band also released a music video for the song. The band is currently working on their first studio album , which will be released this year.
