Ciribiribine

Ciribiribin is a happy Italian song in three-four time . It was composed by Alberto Pestalozza in 1898, the text was written by Carlo Tiochet .

The peculiarity of the melody is the four-in chromatic existing sloping consequence notes opener . In contrast to the spelling, the text is usually sung "chiribiribie". This enables the singers to hold out the vowel at the end for as long as they can, thereby creating a special drama.

The composed art song was sung in concert halls and recorded early on on wax cylinders . In the thirties of the last century it made its way into the songbooks of big bands via the film , became a trumpet hit number and appeared in the Italian charts in the early 1940s . Today "ciribiribin" is often mistaken for an Italian folk song .
