Coordinates: 34 ° 56 ′  S , 138 ° 34 ′  E The City of West Torrens is a local government area (LGA) in the Australian state of South Australia . West Torrens belongs to the metropolis of Adelaide , the capital of South Australia. The area is 37 km² and has about 58,000 inhabitants (2016).

West Torrens is on the Adelaide coast and borders the city center to the east. The area includes 25 neighborhoods: Adelaide Airport, Ashford , Brooklyn Park, Camden Park, Cowandilla, Fulham, Glandore, Glenelg North, Hilton, Keswick, Kurralta Park, Lockleys, Marleston, Mile End, Mile End South, Netley, Novar Gardens, Plympton , North Plympton, Richmond, West Richmond, Thebarton , Torrensville, Underdale and West Beach. The council's headquarters are in the Hilton neighborhood.

West Torrens City Council has 15 members, 14 councilors are elected by the residents of the seven wards (two each from Airport, Hilton, Keswick, Lockleys, Morphett, Pympton and Thebarton Ward). These seven districts are determined independently of the districts. The council chairman and mayor (mayor) is also elected by all residents of the city.
