Cixi ( 慈溪 市 , Cíxī Shì ) is an independent city that belongs to the administrative area of the independent city of Ningbo , Zhejiang Province , the People's Republic of China . Cixi went down in history through the Battle of Cixi in 1862 between the imperial forces of the Qing Dynasty and the Taiping rebels . Its area is 1154 km² and the population is around 1,059,942 (2010 census).
Administrative structure
At the community level, Cixi consists of three street districts and 17 large communities . These are:
- Xushan (浒山街道) street district , center, seat of the city government;
- Road quarter Zonghan (宗汉街道);
- Road quarter Kandun (坎墩街道);
- Greater community Fanshi (范市镇);
- Greater community Zhangqi (掌起镇);
- Greater community Xiaolin (逍林镇);
- Greater community Xinpu (新浦镇);
- Greater community Henghe (横河镇);
- Greater community Fuhai (附海镇);
- Greater community Andong (庵东镇);
- Greater community Tianyuan (天元镇);
- Greater community Changhe (长河镇);
- Greater community Zhouxiang (周巷镇);
- Greater community Qiaotou (桥头镇);
- Greater community Kuangyan (匡堰镇);
- Greater community Shengshan (胜山镇);
- Greater community Yongsan (龙山镇);
- Greater community Chongshou (崇寿镇);
- Sanbei Municipality (三 北 镇);
- Greater community Guanhaiwei (观海卫镇).
