Cizlakit

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Cizlakit (or Čizlakit) is the regional name of an igneous rock that occurs in the Pohorje massif and was temporarily mined as green stone in a quarry . According to Wasili Nikitin, it is a gabbroid rock .

The name comes from the location of Cezlak in the municipality of Slovenska Bistrica on the Pohorje Mountains in Slovenia , four kilometers north of the village of Oplotnica at an altitude of about 640 m, where its abandoned mining site is today.

Cizlakit is a solid, green-gray rock that was used after 1900 for building purposes and especially for tombstones. Its color comes mainly from the mineral augite it contains . It is criss-crossed by white aplitic corridors. Its occurrence is considered a special geological outcrop beyond Slovenia and is located in the eastern section of the Periadriatic Zone .
