The , Clachan Bridge and Bridge Over the Atlantic (German: bridge across the Atlantic ) called, creates a connection between the car and pedestrian Scottish mainland and the two ferry ports on the Hebridean island of rope , one of the Slate Islands off the coast of Argyll and Bute .

The bridge was designed and built by the Scottish engineer and architect Robert Mylne . It was opened in 1792. It is still in operation today, making it one of the oldest unchanged bridges over inlets in western Europe.

In early summer, the bridge is covered with the flowers of the Alps balm ( Erinus alpinus ), a broomrape Gewächses which here fairy foxgloves is called (German: Feenhandschuhe or Feenfäustlinge ).
