Clacton is a constituency of the British House of Commons in the county Essex . The constituency was created in its current form in 2010 and covers much of Clacton-on-Sea , Frinton-on-Sea, and Walton-on-the-Naze . He sends a representative to parliament.

history

The constituency was created in 2010 from the former Harwich constituency and has been represented by Douglas Carswell , the representative of the previous constituency of Harwich, from the 2010 general election until the 2017 general election. He moved from the Conservative Party to UKIP in 2014 and was confirmed in office for this in a by-election in the same year and in the 2015 general election.

Giles Watling has represented the constituency in the House of Commons since the 2017 general election.

The constituency had an unemployment rate of 4.4% in April 2013 . This value was thus slightly higher than the national average of 3.8%.
