The Clamart Park is a park southeast of Lüneburg's old town. The park was named after the French twin town Clamart .

In 1874 the Rote Wall was laid down southeast of the old town and the park was created here. The park stretches between Haagestrasse and Friedenstrasse, a wedge-shaped section extends to Ilmenau . On the northern side of the park is the old Johanneum building, which has housed the Mitte secondary school since 1978 and the secondary school at the water tower since 2014. There are three peace oaks and two war memorials in the park. The park was named Clamart Park in 1985.

War memorial Franco-German War

The war memorial commemorates the soldiers from Lüneburg who died in the Franco-Prussian War from 1870 to 1871. The monument was created by the sculptor Engelbert Peiffer from Hamburg in 1875. It was implemented twice in the park. The monument consists of a high sandstone base on which there is a group of figures. The group of figures is designed similar to a Pietà and is also known as "Mother Lüneburg". On the four sides of the base there are bronze plaques with trophies and the names of the fallen. On the front is the inscription "The city of Lüneburg its sons who fell for the fatherland".
