from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Clara Egghart OP (* before 1426 in Konstanz , † 1470) was a nun from the Dominican - töss monastery .

Clara Egghart came from the Constance patrician families Egghart (or Egghartt) and Schanfigg. As the daughter and heir of the bag master Konrad Egghart, she was wealthy and supported the Töss monastery.

She was first mentioned in 1426 as a sister in Töss Abbey and lived there until around 1470. In 1426 she financed a document from Pope Martin V , which granted the Töss monastery all freedoms, privileges and tax exemption. In 1430 it made it possible to buy land for 210 guilders in neighboring Wülflingen . She is considered to be the founder of the four by forty meter cloister, of which there is only one lintel with the inscription “Anno domini 1400 in 69 iar was lifted up” and the coat of arms of the Egghart and Schanfigg families from Constance.
