Clara Weber , also Klara Weber ( June 24, 1865 in Munich - December 17, 1919 in Frankfurt / Main ) was a German opera singer ( mezzo-soprano , alto ).

Life

Weber, the daughter of a businessman, took singing lessons from Emilie Kaulla and the royal music director Josef Stich in Munich. She found her first major engagement in Regensburg, then she was hired at the Dresden Court Theater and in 1887 at the City Theater in Frankfurt, where she made her debut on August 7th as "Amneris".

Weber sang with fire and nobility, and although this excellent contralto could easily manage to use her means to draw the audience's attention to herself, as a real artist she preferred to impose elegant restrictions on herself and to fit in with the ensemble in style to insert. The success is therefore no less. Weber had a beautiful alto voice, which is equally developed in all registers, and outstanding musical talent. She also used her splendid vocal instruments in the service of songs and was no less praised as a song singer than as a stage artist. Weber, who was also invited to the festival performances of the Wagner clubs in Amsterdam (“Waltraute” and “Walküre”), is also one of her popular, artistically balanced performances: “Fides”, “Ortrud”, “Abriano”, “Azucena”, “ Queen "in Hans Heiling ," Fricka "etc.
