Clarence Acuña (born February 8, 1975 in Rancagua ) is a former Chilean football player . The midfielder was a Chilean international .

He began his career in 1994 with CD O'Higgins in the Primera División . The club reached the final of the Copa Chile that year and only lost to Colo-Colo on penalties . From 1997 to 2000 he was under contract at Universidad de Chile . With the club he was Chilean champion in 1999 and 2000 and won the Copa Chile in 1998 and 2000. In October 2000 he moved to Newcastle United in the English Premier League . The best placement he achieved with Newcastle was third in the 2002/03 season. In 2004 he played for Rosario Central in Argentina. He then returned to Chile, first to Palestino and then to Unión Española , with whom he was Chilean vice-champion of the Apertura in 2009. After a final year at Deportes La Serena , he retired in 2010.

Acuña was called up to the Chilean national team 61 times between 1995 and 2004 and took part in the 1998 World Cup, where Chile lost to Brazil in the round of 16. At the Copa América 1999 he reached fourth place with Chile. At the World Cup qualifier against Peru in April 2000, he was tested positive for the stimulant isoprenaline in a doping control and was banned for four months.
