Clarice Benini
Clarice Benini (born January 8, 1905 in Florence , † September 8, 1976 in Poggio a Vico, Rufina ) was an Italian chess player .
Clarice Benini was the daughter of the chess lover Giuseppe Benini (1854-1920), who took part in the 1911 national tournament in Rome, a forerunner of the Italian championship.
Benini played twice for the Women's World Chess Championship . She reached second place in Stockholm in 1937 behind world champion Vera Menchik and ninth place in Moscow in 1949/50 .
In 1938 and 1939 she won the Italian Women's Championship. She won international women's tournaments in Gardone in 1956 and in Amsterdam in 1957; In 1936 on the Semmering, 1953 in Abbazia and 1958 in Beverwijk she came second.
In 1950 she received the title of International Women's Champion (WIM) from the World Chess Federation .
