Clarissa Claretti

Clarissa Claretti (born October 7, 1980 in Fermo ) is a former Italian athlete .

Claretti won her first Italian hammer throw championship in 2002 as the successor to Ester Balassini . At the European Championships in 2002 she immediately reached the final and finished eighth with 66.25 meters, two places behind Balassini. In 2003 she won the national championship title again, but was eliminated from the qualification at the 2003 World Championships and a year later at the Olympic Games . It wasn't until the 2005 World Championships that she was in an international final again and finished in ninth place, in the same year she threw the hammer with 70.59 meters for the first time over the 70-meter mark. In 2006 she won her third national championship title in Italy, which was followed by further titles in 2007 and 2008. At the European Championships in 2006 she threw the hammer at 69.78 meters and took seventh place. With 70.74 meters, she also took seventh place at the 2007 World Championships . On July 19, 2008, she threw the hammer in Cagliari to 72.46 meters, her best distance to date. At the Olympic Games in 2008 she achieved 71.33 meters, which is the third time in a row that she came seventh at the season highlight. This series broke at the 2009 World Championships , where it finished eighth with 71.56 meters. With a height of 1.70 meters, her competition weight was 70 kilograms.

In April 2010 she married the engineer Gianni Senzacqua.
