Clarke Dermody (born April 22, 1980 in Invercargill , New Zealand) is a New Zealand rugby union player . He plays as a pillar . He was nominated for the first time in 2006 for the All Blacks for the international series against Ireland and Argentina.

Dermody has completed 31 games for the Highlanders in the Super 14 and 69 games for Southland in the National Provincial Championship . His first two internationals were against Ireland during the June test matches.

He was born in Invercargill , New Zealand and attended Southland Boys' High School . He played for Woodlands in the Invercargill Premier Competition.

In 2007 he announced that he had signed a 2½ year contract with England club London Irish which came into effect after the 2007 Rugby World Cup in November. He was one of many New Zealand players who went to Europe after the World Cup.

On May 18, 2007 Dermody missed the nomination for the World Cup squad of the All Blacks , but he was appointed to the Junior All Blacks for the Pacific Nations Cup .
