The Taranaki Rugby Football Union (TRFU) is the rugby union provincial federation of the Taranaki region of the North Island of New Zealand . The association's national championship ITM Cup team plays its home games at Yarrow Stadium in New Plymouth .
Taranaki has owned the Ranfurly Shield four times so far , in 1913, 1957, 1963 and 1996.
Taranaki players are eligible to play in the international super rugby league and are called up by the Hurricanes .
