Dirk Krümpelmann (born August 22, 1966 in Düsseldorf ) is a former German soccer player and today's sports journalist.

career

Krümpelmann made his debut for Fortuna Düsseldorf in the Bundesliga on October 3, 1986 , when he was substituted on for Manfred Bockenfeld in the 1: 4 away defeat against Borussia Dortmund in the 77th minute . He scored his first Bundesliga goal on November 28 of the same year in the 5-2 defeat at Werder Bremen , when he made the final score in the 88th minute.

After Krümpelmann was relegated to the 2nd Bundesliga with the club at the end of his premier season , he developed into a regular player in the following season. In the 1988/89 promotion season he played 35 games and contributed seven goals to the success. In the Bundesliga he played all 34 games in the following season. He scored the first goal after returning to the first division in a 1-1 draw against Hamburger SV on matchday one. In the 1990/91 season he found himself only on the bench. Although he made 15 appearances this season, he was only in the starting line-up four times.

In the summer of 1991 Krümpelmann left Fortuna and moved to Bayer 05 Uerdingen in the 2nd North League . At the end of the season - one point ahead of VfB Oldenburg - he made his second promotion to the Bundesliga. He played for Bayer 05 in the Bundesliga until 1993 when he had to end his career early after a foul by Marc Oechler from Nuremberg .

One of the greatest successes in Krümpelmann's youth career, who played 87 Bundesliga games with six goals and 90 second division appearances with twelve goals, was the 2-0 final victory over the Soviet Union in the U-16 European Football Championship in 1984 .
