Marc "Ö" Oechler (born February 11, 1968 in Nuremberg - Zerzabelshof ) is a former German football player . From October 2007 to October 2011 the former midfielder was on the board of directors of 1. FC Nürnberg .
Born in Nuremberg, Oechler came to 1. FC Nürnberg as a child in the F-Youth, so he became German runner -up in 1986 with the A-Youth of Glubber (after a 2-0 defeat in the final against Bayer 04 Leverkusen )
In the 1988/89 season he was first used in the Bundesliga for Nuremberg, but it was not until 1990 under coach Hermann Gerland that he was able to assert himself so far that he became a regular player. Until the relegation season 1995/96 he remained a pillar of the team, but in this he showed below average performance. Nevertheless, the club stuck to him in the regional league , where he was able to stabilize his performance and with eleven goals made a significant contribution to the 1997 promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga . There he was only a supplementary player until the winter break, but was then able to establish himself again in the team as a regular and remained so in the Bundesliga in the following season. In 1999 he left the club.
Oechler came to a total of 163 first division and 77 second division appearances with 14 first and no second division successes. In the Regionalliga he came to 32 appearances and 11 goals. For a long time the only Nuremberg-born professional and longest-serving professional, he was very popular with the club, but his changing performances led to a loving, ironic attitude among the fans. This manifested itself in the stadium call "Oechler for Germany , Klinsmann out!". Oechler even has its own fan club in Weismain .
In 1999/2000 he played for a year for the Greek first division club AO Kavala , before ending his career in 2001 with the Bavarian upper division club SC 04 Schwabach .
After his active career, Oechler became a financial advisor. In this role he advises both current and former club players such as Andreas Wolf . In October 2007 he was elected to the supervisory board of 1. FC Nürnberg. He was a member of this until October 2011, when he was no longer re-elected by the members.
