Andreas Wolf ( Russian Андрей Андреевич Вольф, born June 12, 1982 in Leninabad , today Khujand, Tajik SSR , Soviet Union ) is a former German football player and today's football coach of Russian-German origin.
Career
Club career
Pre-career
After Andreas Wolf came to Germany as an emigrant in 1990 , the central defender learned to play football at clubs in the Ansbach area . The SV Pfeil Burk, the ESV Ansbach-Eyb and the SpVgg Ansbach 09 were his stations before he moved to 1. FC Nürnberg in 1997 .
1. FC Nuremberg
At the club he went through all other youth teams of the club. The then 19-year-old made his Bundesliga debut on March 23, 2002 in the Berlin Olympic Stadium in a 2-0 defeat of 1. FC Nürnberg. Three more missions followed in the 2001/02 season.
In the following season, Wolf was already in the professional squad, but had to wait until matchday 16 before coach Klaus Augenthaler gave him his fifth Bundesliga appearance. This was followed by 13 more first division appearances until relegation at the end of the season.
Wolf was able to contribute to the immediate resurgence in the 2003/04 season - now primarily as the right full-back of coach Wolfgang Wolf (not related or related by marriage). He played in 31 of the 34 games of the season and also scored his first goal as a club professional. In the following two years he only played 16 or 20 games due to injury and was able to establish himself as a regular player.
In the 2006/07 season, Wolf was a fixed point in the back four of 1. FC Nürnberg, which this season had one of the best defenses in the league with the fewest goals conceded. Wolf scored his first goal in the Bundesliga on April 28, 2007 against VfL Wolfsburg in the 23rd minute with a header to make it 1-1. With sixth place in the final table, the club achieved one of the best results in a long time. The greatest success of his career to date came on May 26, 2007 when he won the DFB Cup with 1. FC Nürnberg. Wolf prepared Jan Kristiansen's decisive goal . A special event was when he sang "All flowers are in bloom, ... only the Fürth clover not" into the microphone at the cup celebrations, which alludes to the traditional rivalry between FCN and the neighboring club SpVgg Greuther Fürth and further increased its popularity with the fans. After the end of the season he was voted by the fans in an internet vote as the club of the 2006/07 season .
In the following season , the successful club defense fell apart due to form and injury. Accordingly, the club found itself at the bottom of the table and although Wolf scored two goals this season for the first time, he was relegated to the 2nd Bundesliga in 2008 with Nuremberg. For the 2008/09 season he was elected team captain in his eighth professional year at the club. However, he suffered a cruciate ligament rupture in the 72nd minute in the first game of the first half of the season against FC Augsburg on August 17 and was out for the rest of the year. He made his comeback on February 22, 2009 (21st matchday) at the home game against SV Wehen Wiesbaden , after he had been on the bench a week earlier. On the 26th matchday, Wolf injured himself again in a 2-0 home win against Koblenz. He tore the meniscus in his right knee and fell out again for a long time. Only at the end of the season did he get back into training, but was no longer used at the successful end of the season, when he was promoted to the 1st Bundesliga. In total, he had only made seven appearances in the season.
What followed was a mixed season, which the club spent a long time in a relegation zone and in which neither defense nor attack could convince. Even if he had some problems with his health and form in the first half of the season, the captain was again a support in the back team and with 31 appearances including the two successful relegation games of the players with the third most appearances in the team. Nevertheless, he did not have a regular place before the 2010/11 season and coach Hecking called out a competition with Dominic Maroh . But from the first day of play on, Wolf asserted himself again and played a successful season in central defense together with the newly arrived Philipp Wollscheid . Although he got very good grades, he was overshadowed by his young defense colleague and the other successful young players who led the club to a very successful season by reaching 6th place. For his contract, which expired in 2011, he received an extension offer from the club, which he declined. One of the reasons he cited was a lack of appreciation. After there was no rapprochement and the 1. FCN had already signed another new addition for the central defense, Andy Wolf announced his departure from the club on May 31, 2011 after 14 years and 213 professional games, 175 of them in the 1st Bundesliga.
Werder Bremen
For the 2011/12 season Wolf moved to Werder Bremen . He played his first competitive game on July 30, 2011 in the DFB Cup game against 1. FC Heidenheim . He made his Bundesliga debut at Werder when he played against 1. FC Kaiserslautern on August 6, 2011.
AS Monaco
During the 2011/12 winter break, Wolf moved to AS Monaco for a fee of € 1.5 million . He signed a three and a half year contract with the Monegasque until June 30, 2015.
In the 2012/2013 season, Andreas Wolf played a key role in the promotion to Ligue 1 as captain of AS Monaco . Due to many new purchases, however, he only came to one use in the 2013/14 season.
During the winter break of the 2013/14 season, he publicly expressed his wish to return to Germany because he did not see a sporting future in Monaco. Because of this, he terminated his contract, which originally ran until 2015, on July 3, 2014.
National team
Andreas Wolf gained his first international experience by being appointed to the DFB youth national teams from U-17 to U-21 . Wolf confessed to Germany, although he was born in Tajikistan, which is why he would only appear for the German national team .
Coaching career
On September 5, 2014 it was announced that Wolf will be part of the coaching team at the 1. FC Nürnberg's youth training center with immediate effect. There he works as assistant coach of the second team in the Regionalliga Bayern .
Others
Andreas Wolf has been married to his long-time girlfriend Sandra since December 28, 2008 and has a daughter (* 2009).
In July 2010 he took second place behind Stefan Reuter in an internet vote on fcn.de for the defense legend of the century .
