The Auckland Rugby Football Union (ARFU) is the rugby union provincial association for the greater Auckland area on the North Island of New Zealand . The association and jersey colors are blue and white. The association's selection team in the national provincial championship ITM Cup plays its home games in Eden Park and is the record champion of the competition.

The association was founded in 1883 and is one of the most renowned in the country. It consists of 20 clubs that play for the Auckland Club Rugby Championship. Auckland has a record 152 wins in the Ranfurly Shield , in a total of 193 games. In addition, Auckland has won the championship 15 times in the 30 years that the National Provincial Championship and the Air New Zealand Cup (predecessor of the ITM Cup) have been held.

Auckland players make up part of the Blues team , which plays in the international super rugby championship . For this reason, the home games of the Blues are also played in Auckland. Auckland has produced more All Black national players than any other province.

Women rugby

Auckland Province has a women's team called the Auckland Storm . The junior team are the Secondary School Girls.
