The Canterbury Rugby Football Union (CRFU) is the rugby union -Provinzverband for most of the region Canterbury on the South Island of New Zealand . The association and jersey colors are red and black. The association's selection team in the national championship ITM Cup plays its home games at Rugby League Park in Christchurch .
Canterbury has won the New Zealand Championship (formerly the National Provincial Championship) six times. The team has owned the Ranfurly Shield ten times , most recently from September 2004 to September 2006.
Canterbury players make up most of the Crusaders squad that plays in the international super rugby championship . For this reason, the home games of the Crusaders are also played in Christchurch. The association has 47 associations.
