NGC 3496 is an open star cluster in the constellation Kiel of the ship and has an angular extent of 7.0 'and an apparent magnitude of 8.2 mag. It was discovered by John Herschel on March 14, 1834 and is also known as OCL 836 or ESO 128-26 .
