NGC 3507 is a bar-spiral galaxy with an active nucleus of the Hubble type SBb in the constellation Leo on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 40 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 40,000 ly. Together with NGC 3501 , it forms the galaxy pair Holm 224 .
In the same area of the sky is u. a. the galaxy NGC 3487 .
The object was discovered on March 14, 1784 by the astronomer Wilhelm Herschel .
