NGC 3512 is a bar-spiral galaxy with an active nucleus of the Hubble type SBc in the constellation Little Leo in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 60 million light-years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 25,000 light years

The type IIP supernova SN 2001fv was observed here.

The object was discovered on April 11, 1785 by the astronomer William Herschel using his 18.7-inch reflector telescope.
