NGC 3513 is a bar-spiral galaxy with extensive star formation regions of the Hubble type SBb and is located in the constellation Becher south of the celestial equator . It is estimated to be 45 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 40,000 ly. In the same area of the sky there is a. a. the galaxy NGC 3511 .
The object was discovered by William Herschel on December 21, 1786 .
