NGC 3514 is a bar-spiral galaxy with extensive star formation regions of the Hubble type SBc and is located in the constellation Becher south of the celestial equator . It is an estimated 164 million light years from the Milky Way .
The object was discovered by John Herschel on March 22, 1835 .
