The North Harbor Rugby Union (NHRU) is the rugby union provincial association for the former cities of Waitakere City and North Shore City and the former Rodney District on the North Island of New Zealand , i.e. the northern part of the Auckland metropolitan area .

The association's selection team in the national championship ITM Cup plays its home games at the North Harbor Stadium in Albany . North Harbor players are eligible to play in the international super rugby league and are called up by the Blues .

The association was founded in 1985 after several clubs split off from the Auckland Rugby Football Union . The greatest success so far is winning the challenge game for the Ranfurly Shield on September 24, 2006 against Canterbury .
