The Bay of Plenty Rugby Football Union (BPRU) is the rugby union federation for the Bay of Plenty Province on the North Island of New Zealand . The association and jersey colors are blue and yellow. The association's selection team in the national championship ITM Cup plays its home games at the Rotorua International Stadium in Rotorua and at the Baypark Stadium in Mount Maunganui .
Bay of Plenty has been New Zealand Champion once (1976) and won a game for the Ranfurly Shield for the first time in August 2004 . They had to surrender this trophy again in December of the same year. Bay of Plenty players are eligible to play in the international super rugby league and are called up by the Chiefs . 38 clubs are affiliated to the association.
