Claude Cahuzac (born October 6, 1951 in Saint-Pons-de-Thomières , † February 8, 2012 in Nice ) was a French football player .

Career

The 161 centimeter tall midfielder Claude Cahuzac was born in 1951 as the son of professional footballer and later national player Pierre Cahuzac (1927-2003). From 1961, Pierre worked as a player-coach at Corsica- based Gazélec FC Ajaccio and integrated his then 18-year-old son into the club's second division team during the 1969/70 season. Since Pierre still served the team as a player despite his more than 40 years, the situation arose that father and son were teammates, although Claude was only born shortly after his father's career began. In 1971 he made his breakthrough as a regular player, but had to accept his father's move to the first division club SEC Bastia at the end of the year . He did not succeed in following his father into the top French league; instead, he had to go to the third-class amateur league with Gazélec in 1972. The club had not previously had professional status, although this was the case with most of the second division clubs.

Cahuzac remained permanently loyal to the club from Ajaccio and in 1975 achieved promotion to the second division. Then he secured with the team again and again the league, where he initially ran up only rarely before he held a regular place again from 1976. In 1978 he ended his career after 108 second division games with eight goals and other games played in the amateur field. His nephew Yannick Cahuzac (* 1985) also became a soccer player. He started his professional career at Bastia in 2005. Claude Cahuzac died in 2012 at the age of 60.
