Yannick Cahuzac (born January 18, 1985 in Ajaccio ) is a French football player who is under contract with FC Toulouse in Ligue 1 .

Career

society

Yannick Cahuzac, a grandson of the former French national player Pierre Cahuzac , played in his youth for the juniors of the Gazélec FCO Ajaccio in Corsica before moving to the Corsican club SC Bastia in 2002 . He ran for the reserve team before making the leap to the pros in 2005. For this he made his debut in the French second division when he was substituted on in a 2-1 win against SC Amiens on August 12, 2005 in the 85th minute. From then on he initially came to sporadic missions until he was able to fight for a regular place in the spring of 2007. In 2010 he had to accept relegation to the third division, but managed to get promoted again with the team in 2011.

A year later he led the team as captain to the second division championship and thus to the second promotion in a row; Cahuzac, who is known for an aggressive style of play that earned him numerous yellow cards and sent off, played for the first time in the French top division on August 11, 2012 in a 3-2 win against FC Sochaux . Although he fell out for a large part of the second half of the season due to a crossbreak drawn in January 2013, he was able to keep the class with the team. In the following seasons, the team he led was increasingly able to consolidate and place in the middle of the table.

Yannick Cahuzac came under criticism in Ligue 1, among other things, for his aggressive style of play and his impetuosity. In the 2016/17 season , the midfielder got four red cards and eight yellow cards, which is a lonely league leader. In addition, he rose together with SC Bastia as the last place in Ligue 2 .

National team

When the unofficially existing Corsican national team played an international match against the Republic of the Congo on June 6, 2009 after decades of inactivity , Cahuzac was part of the squad and was deployed. A year later he took part in the selection of the Corsica Football Cup and secured the title in the tournament with four teams in the final against Gabon . He scored his first goal in a friendly in May 2012.
