Claude François Chauveau-Lagarde (born January 21, 1756 in Chartres , † February 28, 1841 in Paris ) was a French lawyer who worked primarily as a defender of prominent personalities such as Brissot , Charlotte Corday , Francisco de Miranda , Marie Antoinette and Madame Elisabeth (the sister of the king, Elisabeth-Philippine-Marie-Hélène de France) before the Revolutionary Tribunal became known.

He was later arrested himself, but the fall of Robespierre on Thermidor 9, year II of the republican calendar (July 27, 1794) saved him. On August 23, 1814 he became a Knight of the Legion of Honor .
