Claude François Ferey
Claude François Ferey (born September 21, 1771 in Auvet-et-la-Chapelotte , † July 22, 1812 in Salamanca ) was a French Général de division of the cavalry .
Life
At the age of 16, Ferey joined the army in 1787 and was promoted to officer in 1792. As such, he took part in the siege of Mainz in 1793 under the command of General François Ignace Ervoil d'Oyré and then fought the Vendée uprising under the command of General Jean-Baptiste Kléber .
In 1796 he was entrusted with the management of a brigade and he was able to distinguish himself in the battles of Neuwied (April 18, 1797), Montebello (June 9, 1800) and Marengo (June 14, 1800).
In 1803 Ferey was promoted to general and he fought with his brigade near Jena (October 14, 1805), Austerlitz (December 2, 1805), Lübeck (November 6, 1806), Preußisch Eylau (February 7/8, 1807) and Heilsberg (June 10, 1807).
Ferey was then assigned to Spain for the Napoleonic War on the Iberian Peninsula . On September 27, 1810, Ferey distinguished himself in the Battle of Buçaco and he was promoted again. This was followed by missions in the battles of Oñoro (May 3/5, 1812) and Salamanca (July 22, 1812). In the latter, Ferey fought under the command of Marshal Auguste Marmont and was shot by British troops.
