Claude Reignier Conder

Claude Reignier Conder (born December 29, 1848 in Cheltenham , † February 16, 1910 ibid) was a British officer and Palestine explorer.

Life

The descendant of Louis-François Roubiliacs was engaged in surveying work in Palestine as an engineer officer from 1875 to 1878 and from 1881 to 1882 on behalf of the Palestine Exploration Fund , Herbert Kitchener was also involved . The collected data on the topography as well as on the local flora and fauna were published in the works The Survey of Western Palestine and The Survey of Eastern Palestine .

He took part in the campaign on the occasion of the Mahdi uprising of 1882, as well as in military missions 1884-85 in South Africa.
