Claudia Middendorf (born February 7, 1969 in Dortmund ) is a German social worker and politician ( CDU ). She was a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia from 2009 to 2010 and from 2012 to 2017. Since October 2017 she has been the representative of the state government for people with disabilities and for patients in North Rhine-Westphalia.

Life

Claudia Middendorf was born on February 7, 1969 in Dortmund and is married. Her husband is also politically active and sits in the Dortmund-Hörde district council. As early as the 1980s, she got involved as a youth leader in the DPSG and considered becoming a nun . In 1988 she completed training as a teacher . After graduating from high school, she studied social pedagogy at the Catholic University of Applied Sciences in Paderborn . In 1995 she received her degree in social education and has been working for the Caritas Association in Hagen ever since .

politics

Claudia Middendorf was politically influenced by her father who was active in local politics for decades. She has been a member of the CDU since 1988. She is chairwoman of the Hörde local union and deputy chairwoman of the Dortmund-Hörde district . From 1994 to 1999 she was a competent citizen in the city council of Dortmund, from 1999 to 2012 a member of the council.

In 2009 she moved to the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia for Rudolf Henke , a member of which she was a member until the 2010 state election. She won another mandate in the state elections in North Rhine-Westphalia in 2012 . She was spokeswoman for the CDU parliamentary group in the petitions committee and a full member of the committee for work, health and social affairs and of the study commission III (EKIII) "Assessment of the sustainability of public budgets in North Rhine-Westphalia". She was also a deputy member of the School and Continuing Education Committee and the Local Policy Committee. With the state elections in 2017 , Middendorf left the state parliament.

Claudia Middendorf has been a member of the Christian Democratic Workers 'Union (CDA), the workers' and social wing of the CDU, since 1994 . She has been a member of the state board of the CDA NRW since 1998 as an assessor, since 2001 she has been the district chairman of the CDA Dortmund and since 2011 the deputy chairwoman of the CDA district association Ruhr.

Claudia Middendorf is a member of the United Service Union (ver.di) and the Catholic Workers Movement (KAB) as well as the Catholic Women's Community of Germany (kfd) in the local group Herz-Jesu in Dortmund-Hörde.
