Rudolf Henke (born June 5, 1954 in Birkesdorf , now Düren ) is a German internist and politician ( CDU ). From 2007 to 2019 he was the first chairman of the Marburger Bund doctors' union and is president of the North Rhine Medical Association . He has been a member of the German Bundestag since 2009 .

Life

education and profession

After graduating from the Stiftisches Gymnasium in Düren and studying medicine in Aachen , Henke received his license to practice medicine in 1979 . He has been a specialist in internal medicine since 1988 . In 1988 he became a senior physician at the Clinic for Hematology and Oncology at the St. Antonius Hospital in Eschweiler and continues to work as a member of the Bundestag .

Professional representation

Henke has been a member of the chamber assembly of the North Rhine Medical Association since 1981, has been a member of its board since 1985, and has been President since November 2011. In 1995 he was elected to the board of the German Medical Association for the first time . Since 1991 he has held the post of first chairman of the North Rhine-Westphalia / Rhineland-Palatinate regional association in the Marburg Federation. On November 10, 2007, Henke was elected to succeed Frank Ulrich Montgomery as chairman of the Marburger Bund. He was its first chairman until October 2019. Henke is still the German delegate of the World Medical Association . On October 26, 2013, Henke was re-elected for the third time.

Henke has been a member of the CDU since 1992 . From 1995 to 2009 he represented the constituency of Aachen-II as a direct candidate for the CDU in the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia . In the Bundestag election on September 27, 2009 , Henke was directly elected as a member of the Bundestag in the Aachen constituency. Henke was able to prevail against the incumbent Federal Minister of Health Ulla Schmidt (CDU) , who had been directly elected in Aachen up until then. In the 2013 Bundestag election , Henke was able to get back into the Bundestag with 40.79% of the first votes.

Henke resigned from the North Rhine-Westphalian state parliament, followed by Claudia Middendorf . Henke is Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Health in the Bundestag and a deputy member of the Committee on Education, Research and Technology Assessment.

In the 19th German Bundestag , Henke is a full member of the Committee on Health and the Subcommittee on Global Health. In addition, he is a deputy member of the Committee on Labor and Social Affairs , the Committee on Education, Research and Technology Assessment and the Study Commission "Vocational Education".

In addition to the income for his activities as a member of parliament and deputy chairman of the health committee, Henke receives at least 147,000 euros annually, according to Bundestag statistics. LobbyControl accused him of conflicts of interest in 2014 through his work for lobby groups.

Private life

Henke is married, has four children and lives in Aachen.
