Claudia Rosina Tausend (born July 22, 1964 in Vilsbiburg ) is a German geographer and politician ( SPD ). She has been a member of the German Bundestag since 2013 .

Life

Claudia Tausend grew up in a working-class family in Lower Bavaria. She studied economic geography, politics and agriculture at the Technical University of Munich . She completed her studies in 1992 with a diploma. Then she worked for a management consultancy.

A thousand has been a member of the SPD since 1990 and holds various functions there. She has been chairwoman of the SPD Munich since November 22, 2014. Before that, she was deputy SPD chairwoman in Munich from 2007 to 2014 and an assessor on the board of BayernSPD from 2013 to 2015 . Since 2009 she has been the deputy chairwoman of the SPD Upper Bavaria. She was a member of the Munich City Council from 1996 to 2013, and from 2005 she was deputy parliamentary group leader. As part of her city council work, she was, among other things, spokeswoman in the planning committee, member of the committee for urban planning and building regulations, building committee and finance committee, administrative adviser for urban planning, as well as on boards and supervisory boards of various municipal companies ( Riem Advisory Board, GWG , Messe München ).

In the 2013 federal election she ran as a direct candidate for the Munich-East constituency and subsequently received a mandate on the state list. In addition to her own constituency Munich-East (218), she is responsible for the constituencies Munich-South (219), Munich-Land (221) and Erding-Ebersberg (213). She is a full member of the Committee on European Union Affairs and the Committee on Construction, Housing, Urban Development and Local Authorities. Within the SPD parliamentary group she is active as deputy spokesperson for European policy and as deputy spokesperson for construction, housing, urban development and municipalities. She is a member of the Presidium of the Council of European Municipalities and Regions (CEMR) / German Section. Furthermore, Tausend is a member of the German-Baltic parliamentary group and the parliamentary group of French-speaking countries in West and Central Africa in the German Bundestag.

In 2008 she was honored with the gold medal "Munich shines" for 12 years of membership in the city council.

Tausend is also a member of the non-partisan European Union Germany , which advocates a federal Europe and the European unification process.
