Claudio Coello
Claudio Coello (born March 2, 1642 in Madrid , † April 20, 1693 ibid) was a Spanish painter.
Coello was a student of Francisco Rizi . He gained a great reputation but was eclipsed by Luca Giordano's arrival, which ushered in the period of decline in Spanish art, and died of grief in Madrid on April 20, 1693.
He left behind in Madrid, San Ildefonso , the Escorial , Paular , Saragossa , Salamanca , Corella , Torrejón de Ardoz , Valdemoro and other places religious images that are characterized by a strong conception. Claudio Coello was the last important Spanish painter of the classical period.
