Claudio Elías , full name Claudio Marcelo Elías Artigas , (born September 23, 1974 in Montevideo ) is a former Uruguayan football player .

Career

societies

The 1.81-meter-tall defensive player Elías was a member of the Club Atlético Progreso team from 1992 to 1995 . He then played for Central Español in 1996 . He then returned to Progreso and was active with the Montevideans until the end of 1999. In 2000 he was in the ranks of the Chinese club Wuhan Hongtao , where he played 21 league games (no goal). His employers were then Tianjin Teda (2001: 23 league games / 2 goals), Deportivo Maldonado (2002: 10/1), Wuhan Hongtao (2003: 26/1) and Everton Viña del Mar (2004: 7/1) . At the beginning of January 2005, Elías joined América de Cali for half a year . For the Colombians, he played in nine top division games and scored one goal. In mid-2005 he moved to Centro Atlético Fénix and played twelve matches in the Primera División in the 2005/06 season , in which he hit the opposing goal once. For the second half of 2006, Universidad Católica del Ecuador signed him . The Ecuadorians have made five league appearances and one goal for him. He came back to Fénix in July 2007 through a six-month commitment at the Brazilian club XV de Jaú . In this last recorded career station he was used again (no goal) in the top Uruguayan league in the 2007/08 season.

National team

Elías made his debut on March 22, 1995 in the 1: 2 away defeat in the international friendly against the Colombian selection in the Uruguayan senior team when he was ordered by coach Héctor Nuñez in the starting line-up. In the same year he was used in the internationals against the USA (March 25, 1995), Yugoslavia (March 31, 1995) and Israel (September 20, 1995) again by national coach Núñez in the "Celeste". After that he did not appear in any other international matches. Thus, he completed a total of four international matches. He did not score an international goal.
