Claudiu Ciprian Tănăsescu (born July 19, 1965 in Bucharest ) is a Romanian politician.

Tănăsescu earned his bachelor's degree in medicine from the University of Applied Sciences in Bucharest in 1984 and a general practitioner diploma in 1996 from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest. He initially worked as a medical assistant in a children's hospital and the emergency room in Bucharest. From 1997 to 2008 he was general practitioner and deputy director at the University Hospital Bucharest.

In the 1990s Tănăsescu also got into the media business: from 1990 to 1996 he was editor-in-chief of Umbrela magazine and publisher of other magazines, after which he was general director of the television and radio production company Unicorn Productions until 2008 , where he produced various television and radio formats. From 1997 to 2005 he was also the music editor of two radio stations.

In the 2009 European elections , Tănăsescu was elected to the European Parliament for the Partidul România Mare party. At the end of 2010, however, he switched to Partidul Social Democrat and thus also joined the Social Democratic Group , having previously been non-attached.

He is a member of the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety and the Delegation for Relations with Canada. He is a deputy on the Committee for Culture and Education .
