Claus PW Zebitz

Claus Paul Walter Zebitz (born March 24, 1950 in Hamburg ) is a German biologist and horticultural scientist, he is professor of phytopathology and applied entomology at the University of Hohenheim .

Live and act

After graduating from the commercial high school in Bremen in 1969, he completed military service in the armed forces as a regular soldier. This was followed by a degree in business administration at the University of Mannheim and a degree in biology with a major in zoology at the Technical University of Darmstadt with a degree in biology (1968).

As a research assistant at the Institute for Phytopathology and Applied Zoology at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen , he did research on the subject of microbial metabolites with insecticidal and acaricidal effects . With his dissertation he was awarded a Dr. rer. nat. PhD. He then worked as a research assistant and coordinator of the interdisciplinary international project Natural insecticides of the Neem-Tree (Azadirachta indica A. Juss) at the University of Giessen. In 1986, Zebitz moved to the Institute for Plant Diseases and Plant Protection in the Department of Horticultural Sciences at the University of Hanover as a university assistant . With his habilitation in phytomedicine in the field of horticultural science , he acquired the title of Dr. rer. hoard. habil. of the University of Hanover.

In 1992 Zebitz accepted the position of professor for applied entomology at the Institute for Phytomedicine at the University of Hohenheim, which he has been managing director since October 2014.

Claus Zebitz is married, the couple has a daughter.
