Claus de Werve
Claus de Werve (* around 1380 in Haarlem , † 1439 in Dijon ) was a Dutch sculptor .
Werve was a student and nephew of Claus Sluter , whom he followed in 1404 as court sculptor for the Dukes of Burgundy . Werve is said to have completed the tomb for Duke Philip II the Bold in Dijon in 1410. He then received the order for a tomb for Duke Johann Ohnefurcht , but he never began to work on it. Werve's style was based on Sluter's realism .
