The Cle Elum Lake is a natural lake formed by the Cle Elum Dam will continue dammed. The earth dam was built as part of the Yakima project by the Bureau of Reclamation for artificial irrigation from 1931 to 1933 and is located 13 km northwest of the city of Cle Elum . The 50 m high dam has a volume of over 1 million m³. The 19.4 km² reservoir is 13 km long and has a storage volume of 538 million m³. The lake is a popular recreational area with a campsite, water sports and fishing opportunities.
The lake is traversed by the Cle Elum River and has a catchment area of 524 km².
