ClearBlack

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

ClearBlack is the brand name of a display technology developed by Nokia that promises high contrast, better black and good readability in sunlight. This is achieved by integrating two different polarization filter foils on the front of the display; these reduce the reflected ambient light.

The first device with this technology was presented by Nokia at Nokia World 2010 in London. The Nokia E7-00 was the first mobile phone to be shipped with a ClearBlack display. ClearBlack was originally based on AMOLED displays , but the technology is now also used in IPS displays . In June 2014 Microsoft also took over the brand names ClearBlack and PureView after Nokia’s mobile communications division .
